Preservation & Archiving Policy

The Annals of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ACGH) is deeply committed to the long-term preservation and reliable archiving of all scholarly content. Through robust digital preservation strategies and institutional safeguards, ACGH ensures continued access, integrity, and discoverability of its published works.

Digital Archiving Strategy

ACGH employs a multi-tiered digital archiving strategy that preserves manuscripts at every stage—from pre-publication drafts to final versions. This ensures reliable version control and historical integrity of scholarly records.

  • All article versions—including retracted or withdrawn ones—are securely preserved in ACGH’s official archive to maintain a complete historical record.
  • Metadata and content snapshots are archived periodically to support version transparency and traceability.
  • In line with best practices, ACGH plans to integrate preservation networks such as LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, and PKP PN (via OJS) to ensure long-term redundancy.

Version Control & Article Status

To uphold scholarly integrity:

  • Accepted manuscripts, published versions, and even retracted content are maintained with clear version labeling.
  • Withdrawn articles are preserved in the archive without public visibility, maintaining the scholarly record.
  • Retracted articles remain in the archive with a published retraction notice to preserve transparency.

Redundancy & Disaster Resilience

ACGH is dedicated to ensuring resilience against data loss and technological failures:

  • Secure backups are maintained in geographically diverse locations to guard against institutional failure.
  • Future adoption of distributed preservation networks (e.g., LOCKSS, CLOCKSS) will further enhance redundancy and ensure uninterrupted access.

Repository Integration & Open Access

Published content may be freely deposited in institutional, subject-specific, personal, or departmental repositories without embargo. The CC-BY 4.0 licensing ensures maximum reuse, with proper attribution, aligning ACGH with global open science standards.

Transparency & Scholarly Integrity

ACGH takes preservation seriously—not just for access, but as a principle of scholarly accuracy. All changes—withdrawals, corrections, replacements, retractions—are logged and accessible, maintaining the integrity and trustworthiness of the scholarly record.
