Submission Guidelines and Manuscript Preparation
Submission Guidelines & Manuscript Preparation
To ensure a smooth and efficient review process, all submissions must adhere to the following guidelines regarding manuscript formatting, language, submission process, and structure.
1. Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted only by the corresponding author, who will serve as the primary contact for editorial correspondence and peer review. Submissions are accepted exclusively online via the ACGH submission system. Submissions by anyone not included as an author are not permitted. All text must be in either British English or US English—mixing variants is discouraged. The editorial office employs plagiarism screening tools and reserves the right to reject manuscripts at any stage if issues are detected.
2. File Format & Layout
- Acceptable formats: Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx), Rich Text Format (RTF), PDF, or Open Document Format (ODF)
- Use uniform font—preferably Times New Roman or Calibri, 11-pt, with 1.5 line spacing and 1-inch margins; pages should be numbered
- Ensure consistent lettering and sizing in figures and tables
Manuscripts not meeting these formatting requirements may be returned without review.
3. Title Page & Abstract
- Title page: List full title, full names and affiliations for all authors, clearly indicating the corresponding author; include a short running title (≤80 characters)
- Abstract (≤250 words): Concise summary without references, highlighting study objectives, key results, and any conceptual advances
Avoid specialist abbreviations in the title and abstract, which should be accessible and clear to reviewers and readers.
4. Main Sections
Organize the manuscript into the following sections:
- Introduction: Provide background without subheadings
- Results: Present findings clearly; may include subheadings
- Discussion: Interpret findings and contextualize broadly (Results and Discussion may be combined for research reports)
- Acknowledgments: Single paragraph including contributors not in the author list, institutional affiliations, and funding sources
This structure helps reviewers and readers follow logic, context, and relevance.
5. References, Figures & Tables
- References: Use National Library of Medicine (NLM) format, numbered in the sequence of citation; authors’ names in bold, initials follow surnames (e.g., Smith J.,)
- Figures: Submit as separate image files; ensure clarity and compatibility
- Tables: Submit as editable tables (not images); include titles and legends appropriately
Proper formatting ensures accurate presentation and avoids production delays.
6. Plagiarism Screening
All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software. If significant overlap is identified, corresponding authors will be notified and required to address the concern before the submission proceeds.:contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}
7. Language & Clarity
Manuscripts should be written in clear, professional English. Non-native authors are encouraged to have language editing performed prior to submission to ensure readability and reduce review delays.
8. Special Issue Submissions
Proposals for Special Issues should include journal name, issue title, guest editor information, submission deadlines, and a list of potential contributors. Manuscript review follows journal standards, with additional editorial oversight by Guest Editors.
