Publication Ethics Statement
Plagiarism & Research Integrity Policy
The Annals of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (ACGH) maintains a strict policy against plagiarism in any form. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity and publication ethics, in alignment with the COPE Core Practices.
All submitted manuscripts are screened using advanced plagiarism detection tools prior to peer review. Authors must ensure their work is original, properly cited, and free from unethical duplication.
Definition of Plagiarism
- Copying another author’s work, ideas, or data without proper attribution
- Verbatim reproduction of text without quotation or citation
- Paraphrasing substantial portions of another’s work without acknowledgment
- Self-plagiarism: reusing one’s own published content without citation or transparency
- Duplicate submission: submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously
Screening & Similarity Thresholds
All manuscripts are checked for textual similarity using plagiarism detection software (e.g., iThenticate, Turnitin, or equivalent).
- A similarity index above 15–20% (excluding references, standard phrases, and methods) triggers further editorial scrutiny or possible rejection.
- Attempts to manipulate plagiarism reports are considered serious academic misconduct.
Consequences of Plagiarism
- Immediate rejection of the manuscript during submission
- Retraction of published articles if plagiarism is identified post-publication
- Notification of authors’ institutions, funding agencies, or relevant authorities
- Blacklisting of authors from future submissions to ACGH
Author Responsibilities
Authors must ensure the originality of their work, properly cite all sources, and disclose any overlapping or related publications. Each author should carefully review the manuscript before submission to avoid unintentional plagiarism.
